Cross-Country skiing opportunities abound within a short drive of your hotel room. Cross-country skiing can be found along the:




 
  • Lost Twin Lakes Trail, Houghton Lake - (5K loop) an excellent wilderness experience. This trail features some elevation changes through beautiful primitive forest conditions.

  • Marl Lake(South Higgins Lake State Park) - offers the skier trails of 2, 3.5 and 5.5 miles. The terrain is fairly flat and goes around one end of Marl Lake with scenic views of the lake.

  • West Higgins Lake Cross-Country Ski Trail, Higgins Lake - offers a nice groomed track with all skill levels, featuring gently rolling hills and flat areas as well.

  • North Higgins Lake State Park - groomed trails range from 1.5 to 6.5 miles along rolling terrain through beautiful pine forests perfect for the experienced and novice skier.

  • Tisdale Triangle Pathway and the Mason Tract Pathway - located near Roscommon and offer a combined total of nearly 20 miles of pristine trails.

  • Mason Track - between Roscommon and Grayling.

  • X Country Ski Headquarters- This charming Nordic Skiing / Snow shoeing center includes 18 Km of trails, has facilities for night skiing, a cozy lodge with food and hot beverages available.  There is a complete store with sale or rental of cross county and snow shoeing equipment, clothing and accessories.  Cross-Country Ski Headquarters has snowmaking equipment and frequently groomed trails.
