    Formerly known as ‘Art In the Park,’ this event is usually the second Saturday in July on the grounds of the CRAF center in Roscommon. This daylong art show includes a juried art show that has both local artists, as well as artists from all over the state. The art that is shown and sold at this event covers a variety of styles, such as: natural art and photography, oil paintings, water colors, pen and ink drawings, chalk work and so much more. Visitors may browse among booths offering such items as baskets, jewelry, wood projects and hand-sewn goods. Contact the CRAF center for more information (989) 275-4975.

    • Memorial Day Arts & Craft Show

      Held on the Houghton Lake High School grounds and in the Houghton Lake Middle School Gym. This show is held the fourth Saturday of May. This show is organized by the North Central Arts Council (989) 389-4500 and the Houghton Lake Arts & Craft Assoc. (989) 366-8511. Included is live musical entertainment, face painting, unique and interesting arts/crafts. Admission is free.

      Held at the Houghton Lake Middle School. This show is held on the first weekend of July. This show is organized by the Houghton Lake Arts & Craft Assoc. (989) 366-8511.

    • Labor Day Weekend

      Held on the Houghton Lake High School grounds and in the Houghton Lake Middle School Gym. This show is held on the first weekend in September. This show is organized by the North Central Arts Council (989) 389-4500 and the Houghton Lake Arts & Craft Assoc. (989) 366-8511. Admission is free.

    • Christmas Show

      Held in the Houghton Lake Middle School Gym. This show is held on the second Saturday of November from 9 am to 4 pm. Put on by the Houghton Lake Arts & Crafts Association, refreshments are available. Like the name suggests, the entire show is around the Christmas theme. For more information call (989) 366-8511.

      Held in the Houghton Lake Middle School Gym. This show is held on the last weekend of November. This event is sponsored by the North Central Arts Council (989) 389-4500.

    Roscommon County Quilt Trail

    Cherished Family quilts are made with love and handed down through generations. Established in October 2014, there are many brightly colored quilt blocks scattered throughout Roscommon County. Visit our beautiful county on a self-guided tour to find and see our colorful quilt blocks. Many of the quilt patterns tell stories about family, history and culture.

      Located at 3741 W Houghton Lake Dr., Houghton Lake. This block long craft store features art supplies, scrapbooking, knitting and craft supplies for any project. Arnies also has a large inventory of picture frames and mats. Clothing can be personalized with either custom embroidery or large assortment of graphics.       Offers quilts, fabric, patchwork art, a variety of quilting gifts and quilting supplies. They have finished samples for sale and offer Pfaff machines for use and to buy and offer quilting classes for beginners thru advance for adults and kid camps. Located at 6230 W.       Offers Long arm machine quilting and both computer and/or hand guided stitching, they can also create quilts made to order. Patterns are available or special designs can be created to fit special layouts. Battings and backings are available for purchase.     • Zublers Indian Craft Shop and Pow Wow

      This Native American craft shop offers a variety of collectables from jewelry to moccasins. From Indian toys to handmade Native American pottery and statues. Every Thursday in July and August a free Indian Pow-Wow is performed by the Chippewa Indians in their native garments, singing and traditional drumming.     • Pen and Pallet Artist Guild

      Amateur Artists from all over the area meet on Thursday morning from 10am-2pm at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church on County Road 104, for a work and support session, visitors are welcome. The work of this group is sold at Michael’s on the River Restaurant as well as periodic sales at the library, Art Festivals and Arts and Crafts show.
